Chhichhore !! :)

Chhichhore !!

Page-3 it is people; one more time.

Better late than never, as I always believe.

Chhichhore?!!
You go there because of the lead cast, Sushant and Shraddha, but you stay there only because of the support cast.
Lemme explain.

To count some of the obvious pluses of the movie are the comedy, the premise – college life has always been the in thing, good looking lead cast, competition, championship, somewhat the music etc.

Now after the pleasantries, I want to recount the things that actually forced the procrastinator in me to gear up and go about writing this.

Whenever possible I read the reviews of a movie before actually going to view it. Luckily Chhichhore was one of them. Luckily I say because otherwise how would I compare with the general or critic opinion of it.

The first reaction I gave just as the title of the movie and its cast hit my ears was, Chhichhore? Sushant, Shraddha and Varun sharma? Varun Sharma? Oh, then it must be no more than another Fukre. I kind of wrote it off already in my head.
Then I read the reviews which too were not encouraging giving it a two and a half stars then. So what I inferred at the outset is going to be what it is, I boasted to myself and smiled at my analysis.

Then why should I go and waste my time on it, a precious two and a half hours? I asked me. Okay, at least it would be a family time, I persuaded myself when children coaxed.

And there I was, sitting in a super-comfy recliner with salted pop-corn cone and my family hustling-bustling around me. I might as well take a short nap once it starts and everyone gets settled, I gave a conspiratorial smirk to myself.

It eventually did. The hostel scene, half naked boys running amok with water filled buckets throwing water hither and thither… There they go, I yawned; satisfied at my being proven right. I adjusted myself in a position fit enough to silently doze off.

The present day Papa-Sushant Singh Rajput comes home to his son. His zero-wrinkle balding forehead with the specs, barred even the fringes of expressions that might have appeared otherwise and I felt like crying in dismay. Moreover, I know not how, it reminded me of our recent Chandrayan-2 debacle, pushing my spirits even lower.
How would I tolerate the next one twenty plus minutes; I pitied myself.

Raghav’s turmoil about his entrance exams made my eyes dart open and caught my failing attention. Thence I was there. The whole segment of attempted suicide took the acting, screenplay and cinematography to a different level. Raghav and his friend resuscitated the dying movie for good.

Then started the entries, the volley of the so called ‘supportive’cast…
Varun Sharma aka Sexa at his best ever;
Navin Polyshetty, the surprise package, as perfect as Acid could be;
Mummy- Tushar Pandey, even his US accent;
Tahir Bhasin- Derek;
Saharsh Kumar Shukla-Bevda;

The Aces, Prateik Babbar-Raggie and Mohammad Samad- Raghav

The Superr se bhi Uparr, over the above were,
Ranjan Raj the 42 kg weight-lifter, Mummy’s Father, Pandu-the Kitchen guy-Nalneesh Neel, and Saanand Verma of ‘Bhabhiji ghar par hain’ fame, even Rohit Chauhan – Chriss Cross.

Not for a single moment do you believe they are not what they portray.

Generally, it’s the lead cast that has the maximum screen time which is why they are called the lead cast in the first place. And it’s the luck of the audience what they get dished out because that’s what they have to suffer or relish all through the movie. But Chhichhore was entirely the opposite. Like a well made papdi-chat, you get a differently flavoured taste each time an actor is doing his part appeasing every variety of your taste buds. They come with their exclusivity and leave their mark on you.

To add cherry on the top the movie doesn’t let you forget its purpose. The theme is so apt for todays youth and so very well presented. It’s the hero that bungles in the end and the audience is very well convinced of his efforts.
He doesn’t cease to be the Hero &
The movie doesn’t cease to impress.

It motivates, emphasizing on the strategy of solving a problem, an issue, an exam to be focused and give relentless but smart efforts towards success yet not to get overpowered by either success or failure of that one issue or exam, nor to let it dictate your happiness.

Compared to the ends of such college drama movies, may it be jo jeeta wahi sikandar or student of the year,
the end of Chhichhore dares to be the opposite &
the end of Chhichhore inspires positivity.

It teaches us that Happiness is a Choice, we need to Choose it every single moment of our life.

What a tough task, yet how beautifully and smoothly hitting home…..

The reviews said, you don’t always get a 3 idiots,
I say Chhichhore surpassed it.

Hats off to Nitesh Tiwari the Director [Dangal fame]. It was completely your baby and you did a perfect job of it.

Well, that’s what I have for you from Page-3 here.
Do go watch the magic and decide for yourself people.
And do lemme know what you feel.

Till then its tata, bye-bye, cheerio from me at Page-3
